Our Practice

Orentreich Medical Group, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, was founded in 1956 by Dr. Norman Orentreich.  He is considered the father of dermatologic surgery for his pioneering work in hair transplantation, dermabrasion, and fillers. He was elected the first and second president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

At our office on 72nd Street and Fifth Avenue, we treat a broad range of both medical and cosmetic dermatological conditions. In addition, our practice is unique in offering patients custom-formulated topical prescription preparations for treating a wide variety of skin diseases, as well as specially formulated non-prescription skin care products for all aspects of general skin health.

Orentreich Medical Group uses a variety of laser technologies that allow our highly skilled and experienced practitioners to treat many types of skin problems, including hyperpigmentation, facial aging spots, wrinkles, redness, acne rosacea, sun damage, excess hair, and tattoos.

Our medical staff is multi-lingual, and our team of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants work alongside the practitioners in providing an expert level of care.

Patients’ needs are responded to 24 hours a day: a Registered Nurse is available to answer questions by phone during business hours; and, during evenings and weekends, one of our practitioners is on call to respond to any matters of urgency.

What Clients Say About us

The Orentreich practice is one of if not the Gold Standard for cosmetic dermatology. To say that Dr. O is the expert is an understatement. He knows just what to do, just how much. You will never look “done,” just refreshed and glowing. I’m a second-generation patient…my mother used to see Dr. O Senior in the ’80s. Every year for my birthday I treat myself to a visit, and no one ever knows… Patient J.G. (realself)

David Orentreich is the best dermatologist I have ever been to! He continually makes my face look amazing . . . . Everything he has done to me lasts the full time he says it’s going to. I never have any bruising, soreness or problem after. David takes his time in making sure you are comfortable and aware of what’s going on every step of the way. David takes his time to examine each step he does to make sure he is creating perfection. After we have finished my services, David recommends the best product that his brand and office offers. They keep my face clear and glowing. . . . David Orentreich is the dermatologist to see in NYC. Patient G.B. (Google)

I’ve been going to the Orentreich Medical Group for a while now and I have been thoroughly impressed. No one treats acne better and I have been around seeing many doctors. Jodi LoGerfo had put me on a treatment regimen that was effective and the care was great. The nurses spend the time cleaning your skin (and they are real nurses!) and Jodi goes the extra mile to ensure you are getting the best care possible. Her Botox was the best I have ever had too. I can highly recommend Jodi for the best acne care and Botox I have ever had! Patient L.C. (Yelp)

You want my beauty secret? You got it! Dr. David Orentreich is the guy who keeps my skin looking youthful and my complexion clear. I’m a big fan of his night cream (Repair Cream #2)! His father is Dr. Norman Orentreich, the dermatologist who created the Clinique line back in the day. He also invented numerous dermatologic procedures and was the first president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Well… the apple didn’t fall far from the tree, because Norman’s son David is a gifted dermatologist too. It definitely runs in the family. Orentreich Medical Group is my fountain of youth and I’m happy to share that secret with you. I’m positive you will not be disappointed if you put your faith in Dr. David Orentreich. 🙂 Patient B.B. I think Dr. Catherine Orentreich is pretty great. Her staff is super friendly. The office is clean and well-organized. She spent over an hour with me during my first appointment, which is a rare thing to find these days. My father is a physician and always gripes about how younger, money-hungry doctors only see patients for 10 minutes. So, I am always impressed when a doctor has an old-school, spend-time-with-your-patients approach like my dad. I felt like Dr. Catherine asked good questions and spent time trying to figure out my condition. I also felt like she knew what she was talking about. One note – she does like to do a full-body skin check during your first visit, which requires getting totally (totally) undressed. I wasn’t expecting that, but appreciate that she takes her work seriously and wants to make sure to check her patients over. They do sell their own products, which worried me at first, but the prices are quite reasonable. We’ll have to see now how they work! Patient K.K. (Yelp)
